Hello! My name is Freya...

Freya Bradley has joined our team, and introduces herself below:

Hello! My name is Freya and I have been placed with St John’s for one year as part of the Stepney Intern Programme. This means you will see me in the parish on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and on a Monday I will be studying at St Mellitus theological college. The Stepney Area Internship was set up to help young adults like me to explore the unique opportunities and challenges of parish ministry in an urban context. When I’m not in the church office, I’ll be spending my time reading theology, exploring vocation, and experimenting with community living (any advice welcome!) You will find me participating in a range of our parish activities, falling into our church vision of Worshipping God, Making Disciples, Sharing Jesus, and Transforming Hoxton. To give you some examples: I have now been here 3 weeks, and I have led a service, given a reflection, barbecued burgers, prayed with our connect groups, set up at Sanctuary, played with the projector and am preparing for Alpha!I love films, books, and fajitas. Please say hello if you see me round the parish, and bear with me as I get used to my new role. I am so excited to be part of the life and ministry of St John’s and am really enjoying myself so far.

Freya gave the Tuesday Lunchtime Service talk recently on the passage in 1 Timothy 2 which includes the phrase 'I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent' (1 Tim 2:12). You can hear how she tackled it here!
