We love special services to mark the most important moments of life in the presence of God.
We hold three baptism services per year: at Easter; sometime in June / July; and in November. We expect candidates for baptism to have been worshipping with our congregation for at least three months – to allow time and space to get to know the church family; to explore Christian faith; and to attend preparation classes. You can find out more, and complete an application online at our baptism page – or make an email enquiry here.
If you’re looking to be married and hope to hold your wedding ceremony at St John’s – then congratulations!! We’re thrilled for you as a couple!
There are certain legal constraints around how and where a couple may be married, and it’s worth looking at this Church of England Marriage Website and reading our guidance before making an enquiry.
If you’ve suffered the death of a loved friend or family member and are seeking to arrange a funeral at St John’s, please always liaise first of all with your Funeral Director. If you’re especially keen for the funeral to take place at St John’s, make sure you tell the Funeral Director.
Once a year, usually in November, we hold a contemplative and moving bereavement service. This provides an opportunity for people who have lost loved ones – whether recently or many years ago – to comfort one another, seek God’s comfort as they mourn, and to renew their conviction of Christian hope.
