Worship God
Everything we do at St John’s flows from worship and prayer, it's the most important thing we do as a community. We believe that humans were made to worship God and that we find freedom and joy when we do.

Evening Service
We gather in the evenings for more great worship and teaching. This service is a home for anyone in the church but it’s particularly where our young adults land.

You’ll usually be welcomed at the door by members of our church. They’ll give you bible and a noticesheet and show you where you can go and answer any questions.

We spend a good deal of time singing songs of praise and worship to God. These are usually led by a band of musicians at the front of church. All the words for songs and the words of prayers that we say together are on the screens at the front of church.

We always read from the Bible. We believe it’s a special way that God guides us and inspires our living. We use a modern English version, with accessible inclusive language. There’s always a talk or sermon. Our preachers make a priority of careful preparation, seeking to be both faithful to the Bible’s message and relevant to contemporary questions.

We celebrate Holy Communion every week at our Sunday morning service. This traditional celebration goes back to the very first days of the Christian faith, and reminds us of who Jesus is and what he has done.

We always offer prayer for anyone who would like it. You don’t have to have a special need – you may just want to experience God’s blessing. (But if you do have a special need, just speak to the person who prays for you, and they’ll be happy to pray specifically.)

Prayer is the heartbeat of our Christian faith, it is to Christians what breathing is to life, or wet is to water! We have a range of ways in which we prioritise prayer at St John’s, including an annual Week of Prayer & Worship.

Prayer Ministry
We offer prayer ministry in all our worship services because we believe that God the Holy Spirit is able to minister to us personally when we present ourselves before him.

We are careful to be respectful and gentle in prayer ministry, and should you wish someone to pray for you, you can be confident that they will not pressure you to do anything you don’t want to. It’s about making time for you to present yourself before God and receive his loving gifts and care.
