After serving for over 3 years as Youth & Worship Minister at St John’s Hoxton, John Wyatt will be leaving us to join an exciting new mission venture in Blackpool.
The Revd Graham Hunter writes:
It with a mixture of sadness and joy that we able to announce that we’re sending John & Rachel Wyatt out from St John’s Hoxton to join a new church leadership team to serve at St John’s Blackpool. As part of the Church of England, and the HTB Network, we’re committed to training and sending leaders to help with the revitalisation of churches up and down the length and breadth of our country.
John and Rachel will be joining a newly-formed leadership team under the care of HTB Curate Andy Dykes to serve at St John’s Blackpool from early 2022. St John’s is a vibrant and dynamic church family in the very centre of Blackpool, but a church with ambition and vision to grow its reach further across the city by planting new church congregations and contributing to the transformation of Blackpool. John will serve as ‘Ministry Lead’ with special responsibility for worship, prayer and youth ministry. His wife Rachel will be joining the team as Operations Manager.
John joined St John’s Hoxton in the summer of 2018, and although he was initially appointed to oversee the worship ministry of our church, he soon also took on responsibility for the youth ministry as well. He and Rachel were married in 2019, and it’s been a joy and delight for us to have them as part of our church family in these first years of their married life. Together, they have served as Connect Group leaders and have played a vital role in the pastoral care of young adults in particular.
Although we’re sad to see them go, we’re also praying for them and we’re excited to see how God will use their gifts and character to build up the body of Christ in Blackpool. John’s last Sunday with us will be 19th December, and his final service will be our Carols by Candlelight service.
