Hoxton 200 – Funding Application Submitted

Ian Nelthorpe, Churchwarden-Elect of St John’s Hoxton, writes…

A quick update on Hoxton 200 — the application to the National Lottery Heritage Fund has now been submitted.

The submission has been led by Susanna Eastburn and Stephen Escritt from CounterCulture, who have guided the process and brought everything together. They’ve been very positive about the strength of the application and how well it aligns with what the fund is looking to support.

That said, it’s only been possible because of the work done by Graham and the wider team. A significant amount of time has gone into pulling together the detail, evidence and supporting material needed to make a clear and credible case.

A key part of any application like this is demonstrating real community engagement. Susanna noted that securing letters of support is often one of the main sticking points. In this case, Graham was able to gather a strong number from across the local community without difficulty, which speaks to the role the church continues to play in Hoxton.

The 200-year anniversary has also provided a helpful focus for the application — not just marking the history of the building, but setting out how it continues to serve the community and how it can do so into the future.

We’re expecting to hear the outcome in early June. In the meantime, please do keep the project in your prayers — both for a positive response and for the next steps, whatever the outcome.

We’ll keep everyone updated as soon as we hear more.
