Serve on a team

One of the mottos of our church family is ‘by everyone, for everyone’.

All the activities we undertake as a church are made possible because of volunteers who are willing to serve on mission and ministry teams. There are a wide variety of different ways to get involved with serving on a team, and we’re always open to new ideas.

Work With Us

Our approach to mission can be summarised by four activity headings: Worship God | Make Disciples | Share Jesus | Transform Hoxton.

We aim to ensure that all of our activities and resources are aligned with enabling these core priorities. We recognise that the work required to make the vision a reality will be hard and costly – and we seek to recruit people to our team who thrive in exciting and challenging environments where mission and ministry can be reimagined and developed in innovative ways.

We are developing a professional while also relational working environment. We expect ministry leaders – whether paid staff or volunteers – to lead others by example. We are a developing and growing church, and we foster an entrepreneurial approach to ministry. Although we plan our work carefully, we also experiment and evaluate. We care about measuring outcomes and fruitfulness, but we’re more concerned with ensuring that our inputs are carefully considered and applied. We commend effort more than attainment.

Any current employment opportunities will be listed below.

All appointments are subject to Safer Recruitment procedures.

Music & Worship Minister

We’re currently recruiting for someone to join the team as a Music & Worship Minister to help support, develop and lead the amazing volunteers who serve as musicians, singers and production team for our worship services.

The role is flexible, and can be adapted to suit the gifts and needs of the gift person. However, it will include:

  • Youth development: a significant number of our team are secondary school age young people, and they lead their own monthly worship service (Friday Youth Night). They need encouragement, support and coaching.

  • Music coaching: many of our team are enthusiastic but inexperienced singers and musicians, and they need someone who can help them develop and grow.

  • Technical and administrative responsibility: setting up and packing away AV equipment, such as mics, stands, instruments and leads is part of the regular work. As is programming the sound desk and ProPresenter 7 for weekly services.

  • Prayerful and pastoral leadership: most of all we want someone who will have a passion for prayer and worship, and who will be excited by the vision of the church as we seek to be ‘a beacon of hope for Hoxton’.

There isn’t a fixed job description, as we want to find the right person to join our team. The hours of employment are also not yet determined, as it depends on the availability of the right person.

Vocation

a strong feeling of suitability for a particular career or occupation. late Middle English: from Old French, or from Latin vocatio(n- ), from vocare ‘to call’.

All those who are baptised in the name Jesus have a fundamental vocation to be children of God and followers of Jesus. Indeed, this is a simple definition of discipleship: becoming children of God and followers of Jesus Christ. But in addition, we also have vocations - or callings - in life concerning relationships, family, work and purpose.

The Church of England encourages all Christians to explore their vocation in life, but in particular, helps its members explore their vocation in the mission and ministry of the church. This could include being called to an Ordained ministry, such as Deacon or Priest, but also encompasses a calling to Licensed Lay Ministry, Commissioned Pastoral Assistants, Children’s Ministers and many more.

To explore whether God is calling you to serve in an recognised and authorised role in the church, we undertake a process of discernment - meeting with an advisor for conversation, reflection and prayer. If you’d like to find out more about this process, please contact one of the Clergy.
