Christmas 2021

Plans are coming together for the Christmas season at St John’s Hoxton - and we wanted you to know a few key dates right away so you can mark them in your diary and plan around them:

  • Beer & Carols at the George & Vulture Pub
    Wednesday 15th December - 8.30-10.30pm
This year, we will be singing outside in the street - along with various 'German Christmas market’-style vendors! Bring a scarf and a hat, and come along for mulled wine, mince pies and festive singing!

  • Live At St John’s - Christmas Special
    Thursday 16th December - 7.30-10pm
Come and enjoy some amazing live music, including a sneak preview of the church choir who will lead the worship at our carol service a few days later.

  • Christmas Bonanza
    Friday 17th December - 3-7pm
Come and enjoy a range of fun Christmas activities for all ages, including Christmas tree decoration making, games, a Christmas movie, carol singing around the Christmas tree and a visit from Santa!

  • Carols by Candlelight
    Sunday 19th December - 6-7.30pm
Join us for our annual carol service - including worship led by the band and choir, as well as performance from the ‘scratch’ choir and also the St John the Baptist Primary School kids choir

  • Christingle Crib Service
    Friday 24th December - 4pm
A service especially designed for the younger members of our community. We will make and light Christingles and re-tell the Christmas story.

  • Midnight Holy Communion
    Friday 24th December - 11.30pm
Come and celebrate the birth of Jesus and the glory of the God who comes to meet us.

  • Christmas Day Celebration
    Saturday 25th December - 10.30am
Come and celebrate the birth of Jesus and the glory of the God who comes to meet us.

Christmas Choirs

Main Choir

If you love to sing, I'd love you to come along and be part of our Christmas Choir for 2021!

The choir will be leading the carols and performing at our annual Carols by Candlelight Service which will be on Sunday 19th December at 6pm.

There will be 6 rehearsals on both Sunday afternoons and Thursday evenings – in order to be part of the choir you must commit to coming to 4 rehearsals minimum, though ideally all 6.

Choir is open to everyone, including young people of secondary school age.

Scratch Choir

If you love to sing but are struggling for time to commit to loads of rehearsals - why not come along to our "Scratch" choir rehearsal where we will be learning one song to perform at our Carols by Candlelight Service on Sunday 19th December at 6pm.

All welcome, including children age 8 and above. No experience necessary - music will be taught by ear. All you need is your voice and lots of enthusiasm!
