#LoveHoxton Development Proposals - A Call To Prayer!
On Friday 31st July, we submitted revised design proposals for our #LoveHoxton development project to the Hackney Planning Department for consideration under their 'pre-application advice' service. In doing so, we've reached a major milestone - it was December 2016 when we submitted the first version of our project designs. During the past three and a half years, we've consulted widely with the local community, as well as key stakeholders. We've responded to comments and concerns, and made substantial revisions. We actually think we've ended up with a better proposal than the original plan.
At the heart of the project is the desire to CONSERVE our beautiful Grade II* listed church building; to CREATE new spaces for mission and ministry in our local community; and to CONTRIBUTE genuinely affordable, permanently rented accommodation for our Hoxton neighbourhood. In addition to this, by partnering with St John the Baptist primary school, we are hoping to provide a new indoor sports hall for school and community use as well as a new nursery for the schoolThis is a bold and ambitious vision, which refuses to be driven by private profit, but instead puts the needs of our church and community at its heart. For this reason perhaps, it confuses many of the statutory authorities whose support we need for this project - because it's a new and untested model for housing development.For that reason, we would love to invite members of our church family and Christians further afield to join us in praying that God's favour would be upon this vision.We passionately believe that God has called us to 'seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.' (Jeremiah 29:7)We're working to provide genuinely affordable housing, sports facilities, nursery provision and community spaces because we #LoveHoxton - and we want our neighbourhood to flourish.We have no hidden motive in this work - we simply want to express our Christian faith in practical service of our community.
