Meet The Team: Surj Sembi-Harding

Surj joined our ministry team this week as Music & Worship Minister and also Church Administrator. He will take lead responsibility for music and worship in our services, as well as working in the office to run admin and communications.

We asked him some questions to get to know a bit about him…

  1. What's your favourite food?
My favourite food is Korean BBQ

  2. What's your dream holiday?
My dream holiday is a trip to Florida to visit the Harry Potter world, and my wife and I are planning to go in 2027.

  3. Tell us about your favourite book(s)
I’m a huge reader—nothing is better than spending a weekend lost in a good book. My favourite series is The Chronicles

of Narnia, which have been a real anchor for my faith over the years.

  4. What difference has Jesus made in your life?
The difference Jesus has made in my life is that He has transformed my heart from the inside out. Finding Christ was like waking from a long sleep and fully stepping into life. Giving ourselves wholly to Him is the only way to truly discover who we are.

  5. Marmite: love it or hate it?
Ashamed to say, I have never tried it.

  6. Tell us something you think is unusual, funny or surprising about you - maybe a story or a weird habit.
There’s nothing better than a heritage railway

  7. What makes you thankful?
    My friends & family

  8. Who or what is precious to you?
    My wife

  9. What's your favourite song / band / album / genre of music?
    Purple Rain by Prince

  10. Tell us your favourite passage of Scripture and why you it’s important to you.
At the beginning of the year, I broke my leg — something that definitely wasn’t in my plans for 2026. The doctors initially told me I would need surgery and that recovery could take up to six months. During that time, I was prayed for at church and came across Psalm 143: “May your good Spirit lead me on level ground.” At the time, “level ground” felt like a distant and almost ironic concept. But by my third scan, I was told I no longer needed surgery — and just two days later, I was walking on my leg. That journey, from uncertainty to healing, deeply marked me.
