Celebrate the 200th Anniversary of
St John’s Church, Hoxton

In June 2026, St John's Hoxton celebrates the 200th anniversary of its opening.

Since 1826, St John’s has stood at the heart of Hoxton — worshipping God, serving the local community, and sharing the hope of Jesus Christ through generations of extraordinary change in East London. From the rapid growth of Victorian Hoxton, through war and rebuilding, to the vibrant and diverse neighbourhood we know today, St John’s has sought to be what we now describe as “a beacon of hope for Hoxton.”

To mark this bicentenary year, we are delighted to invite the community, friends of the church, and former members to two special celebrations.

200 Years at the Heart of Hoxton

Founded in 1826 as the first parish church serving Hoxton, St John’s has long played a significant role in the spiritual and social life of the area. The Grade II* listed church building remains one of Hoxton’s historic landmarks and continues to serve a diverse local community today.

As we celebrate this milestone, we also look forward with hope — continuing our mission to worship God, make disciples, share Jesus, and help transform Hoxton.
